Gaslight Group Opens East End Provisions on Broughton Street, Hosts Grand Opening and Ribbon Cutting Friday, November 17

SAVANNAH, Ga. - Gaslight Group, a locally-owned group of award-winning restaurants/bars in Savannah, Ga., is pleased to announce East End Provisions, a nouveau American kitchen and bar located in downtown Savannah’s historic Warren District at 420 E. Broughton St. (at the corner of Price St.), is now open.

East End Provisions held its grand opening and ribbon cutting ceremony on Friday, November 17, at its newly renovated historic building. Owners Brian and Jennifer Huskey were joined by Savannah Area Chamber of Commerce President/CEO Bill Hubbard, Visit Savannah President Joe Marinelli, as well as representatives from Savannah Chamber, Savannah Downtown Business Association, Tourism Leadership Council, Savannah Downtown Neighborhood Association and community supporters to help celebrate the historic occasion.

In keeping with Savannah’s historic and storied past, East End Provisions is named for its roots as a grocery and provisions store. Built in 1898 for John H. Entelman, the grocery was run by Entelman & H.H. Geffken Partners until 1902. At the time Herman Heinrech Geffken, originally from Germany, and his family ran the grocery and provisions store through the 1940’s. The building was later a confectionary, laundry and dry cleaner company, maritime tavern and a French restaurant. The building was last occupied by Juarez Mexican Restaurant before closing in 2015.

East End Provisions is planning a rotating menu of craft cocktails and brews, an eclectic wine list and wood-fired dishes created from regionally sourced ingredients from kitchen to bar. The main floor of the two-level restaurant includes public and private dining rooms and a large bar area at the entrance overlooking Broughton Street. Downstairs, guests will find Lot 33, a speakeasy-style lounge and bar area featuring live music and a separate menu of prohibition-inspired food and drinks.

“We’re excited to bring a renewed energy to the East-end of Broughton Street and offer the neighborhood a relaxing place to come together over dinner and drinks,” said Brian Huskey, co-founder of the Gaslight Group. “Like our other restaurants, East End Provisions will have a unique identity and place among Savannah’s evolving class of restaurants. We’re living in an interesting time here in Savannah -- as far as the food culture goes -- the city is on the brink of a new frontier and we’re thrilled to be a part of it.”

East End restaurant patrons can look forward to some of the following dishes on the opening menu including: Grilled Scallops with Candied Bacon, Green Tomato Chow-Chow and House-Made Whiskey-Mustard BBQ; East End Chicken and Waffles; Seared Fresh Fish, Southern Succotash and Lemongrass Broth; Duck Trio featuring Duck Confit, Dirty Bread Pudding, Duck Breast with Cheerwine Demi-Glace; and Fresh Pumpkin Torte, Cognac Prunes and Chantilly Cream.

Last year, Gaslight Group founders, Brian and Jennifer Huskey, celebrated the 10-year anniversary since relocating from their hometown in Knoxville, Tenn., and purchasing a small restaurant for sale in Savannah’s historic district at 325 E. Bay St. Together, they launched the successful and approachable-gourmet restaurant, B. Matthew’s Eatery. Today, they own and operate five locations including B. Matthew’s Eatery, Blowin’ Smoke Southern Cantina, The Five Spot, Abe’s On Lincoln and East End Provisions.

For more information, visit East End Provisions online at www.eastendsavannah.com. East End Provisions serves lunch and dinner. Hours of operation are Monday through Saturday, 11 a.m. to 10 p.m., and closed on Sunday. Free parking is available in the lot across from the Southern Motors Acura dealership on Broughton St.
